PT-17 Boeing Stearman
Our Boeing Stearman is built in 1941 to serve the USAAF and train many pilots.
Somewhere 1950 the Stearman is sold to a cropduster in the Mississippi Delta for $200 and it became the N60839. It is used as cropduster till beginning 1980, until we bought it in 19.., N60839 was on storage in a barn. This did not benefit the condition. Before the Boeing Stearman was shipped to the Netherlands it received new wings and some radio equipment.
In 1996 the airplane needed more maintenance, many parts where worn over the years.
in 2000 they decided to restore N60839, because it was not a priority project It took a while before it returned to the Skies, But in ……………2013 the post restauration flight was performed By Tom van der Meulen.
The Boeing Stearman is pained in the colors it originally had when it was operated as cropduster. The ivory white and orange striping gives a very unique paint scheme what brings you back to the 40s.
In 2017 N60839 was put on the Dutch register and became the only Dutch registered Boeing Stearman, the PH-TOX.
Nowadays the Boeing Stearman ‘PH-TOX’ is used for pilot training and fun flights.
